For the sixth straight year, the Wildflower Center will host a wildflower and native plant photography competition. In honor of the 50th anniversary of the passing of the 1965 Highway Beautification Act, this year�s contest theme is Beautiful Roadsides. We will begin accepting entries here and on Facebook on June 1 and will finish accepting entries by June 30.We are celebrating the beautiful scenes that are afforded to us along our roadsides, courtesy of the pioneering work by Lady Bird Johnson and President Lyndon Baines Johnson.

All photographs must feature native plants or trees taken in any season in any year along any North American roadside. Don�t leave the road out! People are part of this picture too, so the road must be visible in the picture.This year�s competition will allow your friends and family to vote on your entries.

There will be no private judging associated with the competition. Winning photos will be published in Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine�and three will receive a $300 high-performance video camera - the HERO3+ Silver Edition GoPro�. Contest categories are: Photos by Kids 17 and under; photos by Adults 18+, and Instagram photos.See last year's winnersBack to the contest page� All entries must be taken in a Texas State Park or Texas State Natural Area and must include a person or persons in the photo.

The subject in the photo can be involved in a specific outdoor activity or just enjoying the outdoors.� All entries must be uploaded to the �Picture Yourself at a Texas State Park� Flickr photo group, or tagged in Instagram using the hashtag #MyParkPic, between March 1, 2014 and April 15, 2014 (11:59 PM CST).� Flickr entries must be tagged with the name of the Texas State Park or Natural Area, for example: �Brazos Bend State Park� or �Lost Maples State Natural Area� and your age category, if you are 17 years of age or younger you must tag your photo with ��17U�.� Instagram entries must be tagged with the hashtag #MyParkPic and should include the name of the location in which it was taken� Each participant may enter three (3) images per Texas State Park or Natural Area with a maximum of six (6) images total.

For Flickr entries, persons over the age of 17 are not eligible to enter photos in the 17U age group, and persons under the age of 18 are not eligible to enter in the 18 and over group.Let us know how you want to be credited if we use your picture in TPWD publications.

EligibilityTexas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) photo contests are open to all photographers except employees of TPWD and the immediate families of such employees.

The contest is open to all participants regardless of residence or citizenship, so long as the laws of their jurisdiction allow participation. Judging Criteria for Winning Photos� TPWD staff will choose winning photos that illustrate the best connections between people and the outdoors. Judging will be based on composition, creativity, originality, interaction and overall impression. Winners will be announced on the �Picture Yourself at a Texas State Park� Photography contest Flickr Group page, on the Texas Parks and Wildlife Photography webpage, and via TPWD social media.� TPWD retains the sole discretion over the selection of, and decision not to select, any particular entry as a winner.

TPWD shall determine the winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion. All decisions made by judges are final.� Winners will be contacted on or about May 15, 2014 through their Flickr or Instagram accounts. Winners will be required to respond to TPWD via email within 7 days or an alternate winner will be selected.� TPWD may require a higher quality resolution of the winning photograph.

If a suitable resolution for print is not available, an alternate winner may be selected.� Winners under the age of 18 must have signed consent form by a legal parent or guardian before they are eligible to receive their prize.� If a prize is awarded to the winner, all taxes, fees, and surcharges on any prizes are the sole responsibility of the prizewinner.Other Terms and ConditionsAll photographs must be your own work, and you must own the right to distribute the image.Photos entered in the 2014 �Picture Yourself at a Texas State Park� photo contest may not have been entered in previous TPWD photo contests.You must have the consent of those whose faces are visible in the image.

The fee is $5.00 per entry. The photographer may enter all in one category or participate in each of the categories. Texas Bank and Trust reserves the right to decline entries that are considered inappropriate for exhibition and/or publication and entries that are not in keeping with the contest and calendar theme of �SPIRIT OF TEXAS.� All winning photographs will be published in Texas Bank and Trust�s 2017 Collector�s Calendar, although only 12 images will be selected as feature photographs for individual months.

All winning photographs will be retained until the 2017 Collector�s Calendar has gone to press. Photographs may be color or black-and-white and images may be film or digital. Image area must be a minimum of 8� x 10� or full frame, not to exceed an 11� x 14� image size. Photographs must be flush-mounted on a neutral-colored board (white, gray, or black), with the board not to exceed 11� x 14�.

No framed or over-matted work will be accepted. No title, artist�s signature, or other writing may appear on the image or the front of the board. All contest entries must be delivered to the Public Relations Department at the Main Bank, Longview, during regular banking hours during the week of June 13, 2016. No late entries will be accepted. Photographs may be picked up the week of July 28, 2016. We saw the wettest spring in recorded history, destructive and devastating floods, the return of drought, resilient riparian recovery, a growing movement to protect our dark skies, growth and development alongside stewardship and conservation. These extremes reveal what makes this region so unique, and what we stand to lose if we develop in a �business as usual� scenario. What are the contrasts you see in your day to day life in the Hill Country?HCA is seeking photographs that illustrate the dramatic contrasts of the Hill Country � picturesque creeks and swimming holes, dark night skies, breathtaking views and iconic cultural experiences like dance halls, charming towns and heritage ranches�but also captivating photos of drought, flood, development pressures and the changing nature of our region.

The story of the Hill Country is not complete without both. Winning photos and PrizesWinners:13 winners will appear in HCA�s 2017 Texas Hill Country Calendar.

Other photos will be featured throughout the calendar in cameo appearances. In addition to a full page photo feature, winners will receive a cash prize.Grand Prize: $300First Prize: $200Second Prize: $150Third Prize: $100All other calendar page winners: $50People�s Choice Honoree:New this year!

This year�s photo contest will provide an opportunity for the public to view the photos that have been entered into the photo contest and vote for their favorite.
